Clophill
Archery Club has been going since 1968.
Members have use of its
own field in Clophill for practice and competitions. In winter we shoot at
the Alameda sports hall with meetings on Wednesday evenings and Saturday
afternoons. In summer we venture outside for meetings on Tuesday and
Thursday Evenings.
The club has members who have a vast wealth of experience with several
members shooting for Great Britain. If new members need help there is
always someone who is willing to assist, just ask!
The subs for the
club are one of the lowest in the area. To finance our activities to a
greater extent we hold several competitions throughout the year. It is
expected that all members help with these. Without them subscriptions
would be nearer the £200 mark. Don’t be put off by this though, as they
are good fun. Just ask Terry!
If you wish to get serious with this sport and want to buy your own
equipment, there are numerous outlets who will give good advise and offer
a wide range of equipment. Bows can seem expensive but there is an
enormous second-hand market, just keep a look out as bargains do turn up.
